Sorry to put the breaks on Bad Days so quickly, guys, but HealerCharm of Deviant Art commissioned another comic from me! I tried some new things with this one, like making the outline thicker around the characters. Hopefully it makes them pop out more!

Now that I’ve recovered a bit from being sick, I can finally talk about Magfest! It was a crazy whirlwind of an adventure! Randall Drew and I drove 6+ hours into Pennsylvania to go another 4+ hours in a van with a bunch of his friends to DC.
For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, Magfest is a video game and music festival. Randall and I had our own table where we sold our comics, and we did pretty well! The experience has given me some newfound motivation to start working on my own stuff again, but more on that later 
I went to the Angry Video Game Nerd’s Q&A panel, which was packed full! It was the busiest panel I went to all weekend, with good reason! You can see the Q&A here! You can see my tiny head WAY in the background on the video.
I met some amazing artists too. Kevin Bolk does a parody comic called “It Sucks to Be Weegie,” which can be seen here, along with the rest of his art! 8 Bit Maximo was another great artist I met, and his work can be seen here! He does some great Mega Man fan art, among others.

Here it is, everyone, robot of the day number eight: Robo from Chrono Trigger!
This marks the first ROTD that was inked digitally. It took longer than I thought it would (hence the delay) but I’m very happy with the results. What I did was draw the image with good old paper and pencil, then I scanned the drawing and used Photoshop to “ink” on a separate layer. It’s like using a light box to trace, but extra fancy. Here is the pencil drawing before I started inking it:
Chrono Trigger was my favorite video game as a kid, and it’s still one of my top favorite games of all time. Robo was a great character, and a more than worthy entry into my ROTD series.
On a related note, CT is now available on the Wii’s Virtual Console. Please spend the points and get yourself an awesome game from a simpler time in digital entertainment! You won’t be disappointed!
School will be done soon, which means I need to figure out what the future holds for this crazy cartoonist. I have a few projects and conventions on the horizon, and I have some non-comic related stuff planned too.
While Capek is complete in terms of the thesis, it still has a ways to go before it’s ready for the public. I’m trying to finish it asap so it can be ready for MECAF.
I’ve got a few other short projects in mind, including a weekly web comic, but I’ll get into that later. I’ll also be doing some video game fanart, and finally continue my Robot of The Day and Pokemon of The Day segments.
Now on the non-comic related side, I’ve got some cool stuff going on. First off, I finally beat the first Mega Man!
Yes, I’m playing NES on a 40″ HDTV 
Last summer I wanted to go through each of the original NES Mega Man games and beat them, but I ended up playing Mass Effect 2 three times. This summer will be different, now that I have the actual NES cartridges (I was working with the Virtual Console before). It will be a more authentic experience, minus the huge TV.
I’ll also be posting my thoughts on the new chapter to the Back to The Future game, and I have a LOT to say on Portal 2 as well! I’ll be posting my progress through the co-op too! I know that everyone on the internet likes to review games online, but I’m hoping to provide an honest opinion as a fan of the original BTTF movies and the first Portal game.
Anyhoo, I’ll be acting on this cool stuff very soon!

As you are well aware, my updates lately have been few and far between. This is, of course, because my thesis project is taking up all of my time. But I realized yesterday that these two things don’t have to be separate from each other, so from now on I’m going to be posting every night before bed with photos of the newest pages I’m working on!
But Jesse, I hear you cry, won’t that take up too much time posting EVERY night? Actually, I think that this idea will help me to work MORE, since I’ll be accountable to all my loyal followers. If a night passes where I don’t post any new pages, it will be a black mark on my productivity, which should be good motivation.
While we’re on the subject, I had an epiphany last week about my project. With so little time left, I starting to think “hey, it’s still a lot of work even if you don’t finish!” WRONG! This is my time to shine! If I don’t work my hardest while I’m here, then I’m only hurting myself.
Right now I feel like an RPG character in a video game. No matter what, I need to fight the final boss, but victory hinges on how much experience I have at the endgame. How do I get experience? Fighting! Lots of fighting! Or, in this case, lots of drawing.

Right now think I’m at the required level to beat the boss (the thesis), but I want to go and level up until I’m strong enough to beat the pants off of it! I want to max out my experience, find the best gear, and get the ultimate weapon!
I’m inspired by Spider Man’s words when he has to free himself from the rubble that’s keeping him pinned down: “Anyone can win a fight, when the odds are easy! It’s when the going’s tough, when there seems to be no chance, that’s when it counts!” I agree completely! I could probably still graduate even if Capek isn’t finished, but I choose to push push farther than ever before and get it DONE! I can do it, I know I can!
